Roston Chase, the West Indies captain, said his side fell short in the first Test against India, but he wants the team to change its attitude for the next match. “We are disappointed, but we need to shift our mindset now and keep pushing for positive play,” he told reporters.

The second Test will start on Friday at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. West Indies face an uphill battle after a 275‑run defeat in Ahmedabad, where India made 448 all out in the first innings.

West Indies only scored 162 and 146 in their two innings. The biggest contributions came from Justin Greaves and Alick Athanaze, each passing 30 runs. A short 46‑run partnership between Greaves and Athanaze in the second innings was the highlight, but it wasn’t enough to dent India’s massive total.

India’s bowlers dominated. Ravindra Jadeja took key wickets in the second innings, while Mohammed Siraj claimed important breakthroughs in both innings, sealing India’s victory.

Chase believes that a single big score or a solid partnership could lift the team’s confidence. “One good innings—whether a hundred or a big fifty—gives us the belief that we can do it,” he said. “The pressure is on us as batsmen to get that start and put India under pressure again.”

The West Indies squad for the second Test includes captain Roston Chase, Shai Hope, Khary Pierre, Brandon King, Alick Athanaze, John Campbell, Jomel Warrican, Jayden Seales, and others who aim to regain momentum in the series.
