South Africa chased down 252 in a thrilling finish against India in a Women’s World Cup match held in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh.

Nadine de Klerk kept the pressure on India, smashing two sixes in the last over and finishing unbeaten on 84 from just 54 balls. Her knock helped the Proteas win their second consecutive game.

India’s innings started poorly. Early wickets by Kranti Goud, Amanjot Kaur, Sneh Rana, Deepti Sharma, and Nallapureddy Charani saw India fall to 81 for 5. The openers, Smriti Mandhana and Pratika Rawal, gave a steady start, but a quick burst from South Africa’s bowlers kept the score low.

The match had a dramatic turnaround. Richa Ghosh, batting at number eight, scored 94, the highest score by a number‑eight batter in Women’s ODI World Cup history, and her partnership with Sneh Rana added 88 runs. India struggled to hold their lead, and the final wickets fell quickly, leaving them 251 for 10.

South Africa rose to the challenge. Laura Wolvaardt top‑scored with 70, but it was de Klerk who really put the game beyond reach, batting through the final overs with two big sixes. The Proteas finished on 252 for 7, a three‑wicket victory.

Key moments: de Klerk’s 84*, Ghosh’s 94, India’s early collapse from 83/1 to 81/5, and South Africa’s late‑innings surge to chase the target.

The win keeps South Africa in the hunt for the World Cup title, while India faces a tough road ahead after this first defeat in the tournament.
