Chandigarh, Oct 10 –
Punjab’s Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann slammed the recent shoe‑throwing attempt at the Chief Justice of India, B.R. Gavai. He said the act stemmed from the BJP’s “anti‑Schedule Caste” campaign, which the CM claims continually targets weaker sections of society.

In his press conference, the CM argued that the BJP’s propaganda “hurts the interests of under‑privileged people” and that the shoe incident shows the party’s disregard for the country’s judicial system and communal harmony. “The Chief Justice rose to his position through hard work,” Mann said. “A move like this is utterly condemnable.”

Mann assured residents that the state will tighten law and order controls over the coming festive season and that the Punjab government will not tolerate any interference in peace. He highlighted the state’s border position and warned that “forces hostile to Punjab’s progress” will be met decisively.

The CM also announced a health‑sector drive to check food quality during festivals, addressing concerns about adulterated products. Meanwhile, he was brief on former cricketer‑turned‑politician Navjot Singh Sidhu, who has returned to politics. “People can join or leave politics whenever they wish,” Mann said. “We wish Sidhu luck, but nothing new is expected from him.”

The Punjab government remains alert, with intensified security arrangements for the upcoming holidays and a focus on keeping society safe and orderly.
