Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado was stunned after she learned that she had been awarded the 2025 Nobel Peace Prize in an emotional call from the institute’s secretary, Kristian Berg Harpviken. Machado was given the award for fighting the dictatorship in Venezuela.
