Rajasthan: ATS busts fake ex-servicemen racket, 28 arrested

Jaipur – The Rajasthan Anti‑Terrorist Squad (ATS) on Thursday made a major bust after uncovering a scam that let 28 men posing as ex‑Army officers land jobs as security guards at the Food Corporation of India (FCI).

The FCI requires that about 90 percent of its security staff be retired Army soldiers. Using forged retirement certificates and fake ID cards, the men applied through a private security firm and were hired at a pay of more than ₹21,000 per month.

According to IG (ATS) Vikas Kumar, the squad acted on a tip‑off and launched an operation that covered 31 FCI depots in Kota, Bhilwara, Udaipur and Banswara. “We staged a mock drill,” he said, gathering all guard personnel and asking them to show their Army retirement papers. After a close examination, 28 guards were found to have used counterfeit documents.

Each bogus certificate had cost the accused between ₹30,000 and ₹50,000. After employment, they paid brokers monthly commissions of ₹3,000 to ₹5,000 to keep the scheme running. Some of the men had been working at FCI for 3–4 years, indicating that the racket ran deep.

IG Kumar said the arrest list includes names such as Bahadur Singh Bhati, Narendra Singh Natwar, Ramprasad Meena and others. Authorities have registered three cases so far and expect more arrests as the investigation continues.

The operation is part of a broader crackdown on document fraud and corruption in security recruitment across Rajasthan. The ATS remains on the lookout for a larger network that might be involved.
