Guwahati (Assam), October 11 – Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) staged a lively seminar for its staff at Rangiya Division, partnering with the IIT School of Business. The event aimed to boost the knowledge and confidence of railway officials, showing NFR’s ongoing investment in talent and learning.

The programme ran in two parts. The first workshop, “On the Right Track, Transforming Attitude, Personality & Perception in Railway Staff,” pushed participants to adopt a positive mindset and sharpen leadership skills. The second session, “Crossing the Lines – Power, Organisational Politics & Knowledge Hiding,” tackled transparency, teamwork, and open communication. Together, the talks helped trainees build stronger relationships and fosters a culture of continuous improvement at NFR.

NFR officials said the seminar reflected the organisation’s commitment to empowerment and innovation. “We want every employee to feel ready to tackle tomorrow’s challenges,” said a senior NFR officer. “These sessions equip them with the mental tools needed for teamwork and excellence.”

Beyond training, NFR continues to upgrade its infrastructure, especially across the tough terrain of the Lumding‑Badarpur Hill section. In the Bihara‑Hilara stretch, NFR finished a major retrofit of Bridge No. 359, a 3×18.3 m composite girder located at kilometre 159/2‑3. The work, which involved concrete removal, grouting, dowelling, and micro‑concreting, lifted the old 45 km/h speed limit to 75 km/h. Passengers can now travel faster and safer on this stretch.

The agency also tackled track safety between Dihakhu and Mupa (km 51/1‑2), an area perched on a 55‑metre steep slope. After a monitoring program that began in May 2025, NFR staff deployed permanent watchmen and executed a track diversion and realignment. Engineers completed the cut‑and‑connection work during a four‑hour night block in September 2025, moving the track 15 metres away from the slope. This shift adds a crucial safety margin and stabilises the hillside for long‑term protection.

“These upgrades represent a decisive step forward for safe, reliable train operations in the hilly region,” said Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, NFR’s Corporate Public Relations Officer. “By raising speed limits and repositioning the track, we are boosting efficiency without compromising safety.”

NFR’s dual focus on people and infrastructure shows how the railway is prepared for future demands. The seminar nurtures professional growth, while the structural improvements enhance safety and reliability across the Lumding‑Badarpur Hill section. Together, they reinforce NFR’s mission to keep rail links secure and convenient for all passengers.
