In Tripura, the chief minister said that the state’s North Tripura district is now part of a national “100‑districts” plan to boost farming. The announcement came while Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched three new farm‑friend schemes on a broadcast that reached every corner of the country.
The goal of the new programs is clear: raise farming output, spread out the kinds of crops grown, and make farming more eco‑friendly. Modi’s three schemes – PM Dhan Dhanya Krishi Yojana, the National Mission on Pulses, and the National Mission on Natural Farming – give farmers easier and cheaper access to both long‑term and short‑term credit.
Chief Minister Manik Saha welcomed the launch, noting it comes on a day that also celebrates the birthdays of two Indian heroes, Jai Prakash Narayan and Nanaji Deshmukh. He praised the Prime Minister for his efforts to improve farmers’ lives and thanked him on behalf of Tripura’s people.
Saha added that the state has already cut GST rates from five steps to 5 % and 18 %. That change has lowered the cost of many farm inputs and helped bring the state’s food‑grain yield up by about 40 %. North Tripura, which has lagged behind in productivity, will now receive special support for irrigation, training, infrastructure and market links.
Under the 100‑district plan, the project will run through 2030‑31. Each selected district will get targeted subsidies, loan facilities, better storage at block and village levels, and upgraded irrigation systems.
The launch event was attended by Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, Paschim Tripura Zila Parishad “Sabhadhipati” Bishwajit Shil, Agriculture Department Secretary Apurba Roy, and other senior officials. Their presence underlined how the schemes aim to help farmers across the state and across India.
