India Mobile Congress 2025 wrapped up in Delhi on October 11 after four days of talks, demos, and a buzz‑filled exhibit hall. The week‑long event, held at the Yashobhoomi Convention Centre, drew tech giants, start‑ups, scholars, and policymakers, making it the biggest Mobile Congress the country has hosted to date.

The congress aimed to bring together global stakeholders and thought‑leaders to shape India’s digital future. Prime Minister Narendra Modi opened the forum on Wednesday, praising the country’s rapid rise in technology and stressing the “Make in India” and Atmanirbhar Bharat initiatives. He highlighted that government backing, industry collaboration, and academic research are turning India into a launchpad for innovation. Modi called it “the best time to invest, innovate, and make in India,” citing booming sectors such as manufacturing, semiconductors, mobile tech, and start‑ups.

Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia joined the stage to point out India’s journey from a “tech taker” to a global digital leader. He noted that mobile data costs have fallen by 98 percent in the last decade, that India now hosts 1.2 billion mobile subscribers—about 20 percent of the world’s mobile users—and that broadband coverage has surged from 60 million in 2014 to 944 million today. Scindia also announced that India’s Digital Highway, the world’s largest network, now interconnects millions across the country.

A highlight of IMC 2025 was India’s first Satcom Summit, themed “Space Networks for Universal Connectivity.” The summit gathered policymakers, industry leaders, and innovators to discuss how satellite technology can bridge the digital divide. Scindia said satellite communication is a “national necessity” and the backbone of resilient infrastructure—enabling a “doctor in every home and teacher in the remotest classroom.” The summit showcased India’s NISAR mission, underscoring the nation’s drive to lead rather than follow in space tech.

Looking ahead, India is pushing toward 6G trials, with experts noting that saturation of 5G use cases will inform the next generation of connectivity. At the International Bharat‑6G Symposium 2025 held alongside IMC, global research groups including Bharat 6G, ATIS Next G Alliance, and 6G Brazil issued a joint statement. They called for 6G to be trusted, secure, resilient, open, interoperable, inclusive, sustainable, and globally connected. India already boasts over 65 million 5G users, and the focus now shifts to deploying 6G-ready networks.

Showcasing the latest in tech, MediaTek rolled out the Dimensity 9500 flagship chipset, designed for next‑gen 5G phones with better AI, gaming, and power efficiency. Tejas Networks unveiled its Direct‑to‑Mobile (D2M) technology, an indigenous deep‑tech stack ready for commercial deployment after nearly a decade of development. BSNL announced that its 5G pilot project is complete and that 4G upgrades are underway, with full 5G services set to roll out soon.

India is also fast‑tracking regulatory frameworks for satellite communications. DoT Secretary Neeraj Mittal confirmed that the government is finalizing rules, pricing, and security compliance in consultation with key stakeholders. ISRO Chairman V Narayanan said India aims to match the launcher capability, satellite technology, and scientific missions of developed space nations by 2040, crediting the Prime Minister’s vision for this ambition.

Overall, India Mobile Congress 2025 highlighted India’s rapid technological progress, homegrown innovation, and growing status as a global leader in digital connectivity, satellite tech, and next‑generation telecom. The event underscored a future where affordable, high‑speed connectivity powers an inclusive digital India.
