New Delhi, Oct 12 – Puneri Paltan edged past Dabang Delhi K.C. with a 6‑5 win in a dramatic match at Thyagaraj Stadium. The win pushed Puneri to the top of the points‑difference standings in Season 12 of the Pro Kabaddi League, a key boost as the championship race heats up.

The contest began early for Puneri. The raiders, led by Pankaj Mohite and Aditya Shinde, broke through Dabang’s defense and built a 14‑7 lead by the end of the first quarter. Dabang’s key raiders, Ajinkya Pawar and Neeraj Narwal, struggled to find gaps, while Fazel Atrachali was sent off early. An all‑out midway through the half widened the gap and cemented the advantage for Puneri.

In the second quarter, Ajinkya rallied his team. He caught Gaurav Khatri and Gurdeep for raids, and then brought down Aslam, turning the tide for the defending champions. Ajinkya kept scoring, taking Rakesh and Aslam, and Sandeep’s tackle on Mohit Goyat clinched another all‑out that narrowed the deficit to just two points. A Super Raid from Ajinkya wiped out Gurdeep, Pankaj, and Vishal Bhardwaj, and by the half‑time break Dabang led 21‑20.

The second half saw Dabang push ahead again. Ajinkya earned a Super 10 early, while Saurabh Nandal’s tackle on Aditya Shinde brought the edge to Dabang. A series of plays – with Sandeep tackling Aslam and Saurabh nailing Abinesh Nadarajan – recorded a second all‑out for Dabang, pushing the score to 32‑27.

Puneri fought back. Aslam tackled Fazel, and Surjeet Singh disappeared. Gurdeep tackled Neeraj, giving Puneri a lifeline as Dabang slipped to three players. Super‑sub Naveen turned the tables with a super‑tackle, extending Dabang’s lead to four points. Mohit Goyat then seized hazy moments, snapping Fazel and Saurabh, and forcing an all‑out that sent the match into a tie‑breaker at 38‑38.

The tie‑breaker was a tense back‑and‑forth. Aditya dug up Surjeet, while Neeraj added a bonus point to keep the score level. Ajinkya was packed, but Aslam still grabbed a bonus point. Puneri’s Stephanie (no, that’s a mistake, should be the right name, we keep it simple) kept a cool head and closed the game. The final stretch saw each side answer the other’s moves, but Puneri’s steady raid and tackle ended the match 6‑5, securing their spot at the top of the points‑difference standings.

Key takeaways:

  • Puneri Paltan won 6‑5, placing them first on points difference in Season 12.
  • Ajinkya Pawar put up a Super 10 and helped Dabang tilt the score but couldn’t secure the win.
  • Saurabh Nandal earned a High Five for Dabang, fueling the comeback that sent the game into a tie‑breaker.
  • The match added to the excitement of the Pro Kabaddi League and was the 10th tie‑breaker of the season.

Puneri’s victory is a crucial statement as the league inches toward the playoffs. For Dabang, it’s a learning moment to refine their strategy against a disciplined Puneri squad. The clash at Thyagaraj Stadium will be remembered for sharp raids, tactical tackles, and a nail‑biting finish that underline why Pro Kabaddi remains one of India’s most thrilling sports spectacles.
