Alec Baldwin says a huge garbage truck pulled the plug on his weekend in the Hamptons, forcing him to collide with a tree on Montauk Highway in East Hampton, New York. The 67‑year‑old actor, along with his younger brother, Stephen Baldwin, was driving Hilaria Baldwin’s white Range Rover when the truck cut them off. Instead of braking hard, Alec swerved—no accident.
The crash happened Monday afternoon. Baldwin posted a video on Instagram (link to reel) explaining that the truck was “the size of a whale” and that he had to hit a big tree to avoid a larger collision. He admitted to crushing the Range Rover, but he and his brother were unharmed. The police called was praised in the clip, especially “Officer Gerken” from the East Hampton Police Department.
According to photos from the scene, a National Waste Services garbage truck was present and stayed on the curb after the wreck. Baldwin’s video mixed footage of the wreck with clips from the Hamptons International Film Festival, where he thanked the event’s organizers and praised the crew. He also gave a quick shout‑out to Hilaria, saying he loved her and was proud of her, while joking about his “crazy” usual self.
Baldwin wrapped up by saying he’s headed to Los Angeles for a family visit, adding he’ll return to California after a few days. He reassured everyone that he was fine, apart from the usual theatrical flair.
