Quetta, Oct. 14 – In the Zehri district of Balochistan, the Pakistani Army shelled a residential area on Oct. 5, killing six civilians, including four children, and leaving three others seriously wounded, a Baloch human‑rights group says.
The attack, reportedly aimed at the Moola Pass near Charhi, hit the home of Manzoor Ahmed and his family. Ahmed’s two kids and his nephew were killed, while Bibi Rahima and her child also died at the scene. Rahima’s children, both boys, were rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
Paank, the human‑rights wing of the Baloch National Movement, condemned the strike as a brutal attack on innocent people. “We demand an independent investigation to hold those responsible accountable for these grave violations,” the group said.
Baloch Voice for Justice (BVJ) echoed the call, calling the bombing a “grave violation of fundamental human rights” that has spread fear across the region. “Using force against unarmed civilians is unacceptable under any circumstance,” BVJ added.
The groups urged the United Nations Human Rights Council, Amnesty International, and Human Rights Watch to launch a transparent inquiry into what they describe as “ongoing state brutality” in Zehri.
Tara Chand, president of the Baloch American Congress, posted an urgent message on X (formerly Twitter) Sunday night, asserting that the Pakistani Army is targeting ordinary citizens, not armed combatants. Chand said the army has razed homes, bombed neighborhoods, and cut off basic supplies such as water, food, medicine, and education.
“We ask the world to open its eyes to the cruelty and oppression in Zehri,” Chand wrote. “The Pakistani Army is committing grave atrocities in our land.”
Human‑rights organizations have called for immediate action. If unchecked, the violence could deepen an already severe crisis in Balochistan and undermine regional stability. The international community’s response will be closely watched by families and activists who demand justice and protection for civilians.
