Shweta Tripathi on ‘Mirzapur’ movie: Night shoots are happening

Shweta Tripathi, the actress who plays Gajgamini Gupta on the hit crime‑thriller Mirzapur, is back on set for the series’ upcoming film adaptation, Mirzapur: The Movie. The shoot kicked off last night in Varanasi, also known as Banaras.

“I feel like I’m in my second home,” Tripathi said to . “I’m filming my favorite project in a city that’s already close to my heart. Playing Gajgamini, a role I love over and over again, fills me with pure joy.”

The cast has already started night‑time shooting. Tripathi updated fans that the set looks fantastic and that the crew will be sipping tea all night in traditional Kulhad cups. She praised the ensemble, naming Ali Fazal, Pankaj Tripathi, and Rasika Dugal, among others, and noted that everyone is in town, ready for on‑screen chemistry. “Everyone’s here today, and we’re already planning chats,” she added. She also mentioned a beautiful Ganga Aarti she watched that morning, saying the Diwali celebrations had begun early.

Mirzapur is a gritty drama that follows Akhandanand “Kaleen” Tripathi, a powerful crime boss who rules the district of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh. The first season introduced stars like Pankaj Tripathi, Ali Fazal, Divyendu Sharma, Vikrant Massey, Shweta Tripathi, Shriya Pilgaonkar, Rasika Dugal, Harshita Gaur, and Kulbhushan Kharbanda. The second season kept the core cast, replacing Massey and Pilgaonkar with new faces such as Vijay Varma, Isha Talwar, Lilliput, Anjum Sharma, Priyanshu Painty, Anangsha Biswas, and Neha Sargam.

Filming largely takes place across Uttar Pradesh, with major locations including Mirzapur, Jaunpur, Azamgarh, Ghazipur, Lucknow, Raebareli, Gorakhpur, and Varanasi. The movie promises to bring the same raw, explosive energy to the big screen that fans have loved on television.
