Jennifer Aniston says she never adopted because she wants a child that carries her own DNA. In a recent “Armchair Expert” podcast, the 56‑year‑old “Friends” star explained her decision in plain terms.
After the host, Monica Padman, admitted she was unsure about having kids, Aniston said she has “peace” with not becoming a mom—but that peace feels out of her control at times.
When the topic of adoption came up, Aniston was clear: “I don’t want to adopt. I want my own DNA in a little person.” She added that pregnancy plans never included adoption and that the idea feels emotional and off‑center for her.
The actress has faced media speculation about her fertility for years. She told Harper’s Bazaar that the public never saw the medical struggles she and her former husband, Brad Pitt, went through while trying to start a family.
In 2022, Aniston confided that both she and Pitt underwent IVF treatments. She said, “If it weren’t for going through that, I would’ve never become who I was meant to be.”
Aniston’s comments about freezing eggs show she felt the decision was delayed. “I would’ve frozen my eggs if someone had told me to,” she said. “You just don’t think about it until it’s too late.”
After divorcing Pitt in 2005, she married Justin Theroux in 2015; they divorced in 2017. Today, Aniston is reportedly dating hypnotist Jim Curtis. She remains a frequent target of criticism for not starting a family, but she has repeatedly emphasized that her personal medical journey is private.
Her statement that she wants her DNA in a future child not only explains her adoption stance but also highlights the broader conversation about fertility, egg freezing, and choices faced by Hollywood celebrities.
