Hyundai Motor India has named Tarun Garg its new chief executive and managing director. The appointment was announced in a company statement on Tuesday, following a unanimous vote by the board. Garg will now oversee all of Hyundai’s operations in India, including manufacturing, sales, and marketing for the country’s growing automotive market.
Garg has been with Hyundai since 2007, climbing the ranks from commercial manager to senior vice‑president of the company in India. He played a key role in launching the brand’s first SUV in the country and helped expand the sales network across 600+ cities. Industry analysts say his deep knowledge of India’s diverse market and strong relationships with local suppliers will help Hyundai grow its market share during a time of rising demand for electric and hybrid vehicles.
“We’re excited to have Tarun lead our India business,” said Hyundai Motor Group’s president in a statement. “He combines strong sales experience with operational expertise, and he’s proven he can grow the brand in a competitive landscape.”
Hyundai Motor India said it will continue to invest in new plant capacity at its Ujjain and Sankhur production facilities. The company is planning to roll out new models this year that focus on electrification and tighter fuel efficiency. With Garg at the helm, Hyundai aims to strengthen its presence in India’s fast‑growing auto sector and keep up with rivals like Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors and Mahindra.
Industry experts expect that under Garg’s leadership, Hyundai will push for more electric vehicles and partner with local companies for charging infrastructure. The company remains focused on delivering high‑quality cars while meeting local regulations and consumer demands.
