Chennai started the match with tempo. Captain Jerome Vinith launched a fierce super‑serve that rattled Ahmedabad’s defence, and the Blitz’s attack quickly took the lead. Muthusamy Appavu then targeted Nandhagopal, pushing the Defenders into a counter‑attack. A mis‑serving mistake by Battur Batsuuri handed Chennai a crucial super‑point.
Ahmedabad responded with solid defence. Akhin stepped up at the net, while Batsuuri’s cross‑body spikes pressured the Blitz. Angamuthu’s presence on court helped flip the momentum back in favour of the Defenders.
The key blow for Chennai came when Tarun Gowda served a powerful super‑serve, boosting team confidence. Newcomer Azizbek Kuchkorov made impressive blocks that shut down Ahmedabad’s attackers. Luiz Felipe Perotto joined the Blitz attack, keeping the game tight.
Service pressure from Nandha kept Chennai rattled, but the Blitz’s setter Sameer and defender Suraj Chaudhary countered with solid passes and blocks. Nandha’s relentless pressure made the match reach a fifth set.
In the decisive set, Azizbek’s blocks stifled the Defenders, and Akhin clamped down on Jerome’s rally.
