Hyderabad – Late Wednesday night, a tense scene unfolded at the home of Endowments and Forest Minister Konda Sure Suresh in the upscale Jubilee Hills area. Police were sent to arrest N. Sumanth, Sure Suresh’s former Officer on Special Duty, after he was dismissed for alleged misconduct and corruption.
Sure Suresh’s daughter, Sushmita, confronted a pair of plain‑clothes officers outside the house. She demanded to see an arrest warrant and refused the police entry. The officers later argued with her, but soon the minister and Sumanth drove out in her car and left the residence.
During the exchange, Sushmita raised a serious accusation: she says senior Congress leaders, including Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s advisor Vem Narender Reddy, Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy, and MLA Kadiyam Srihari, are trying to smear her family. “They’re targeting my parents in a conspiracy,” she told reporters.
She added that she learned Sumanth had been removed as OSD on Wednesday. According to her, Sumanth had allegedly threatened a Deccan Cements officer with a gun while in the constituency of Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy in Huzurnagar. Sushmita said the chief minister’s advisor claimed a complaint was filed by Uttam Kumar Reddy, but the minister denied ever filing one. She also said a close aide of the chief minister, Rohin Reddy, was present when the Deccan Cements meeting happened and questioned why no action was taken.
Sushmita fears the alleged conspiracy will push Sumanth to testify that he threatened a Deccan Cements employee under orders from her father, Konda Murali. “It’s a plot to arrest my father, Konda Murali,” she said.
Her father, a former Maoist, had already been removed from a shooting unit when security concerns arose. “How can they lower his security after such a past?” she asked.
The controversy over Sumanth’s dismissal is tied to a broader feud between Konda Sure Suresh and Revenue Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy. It stems from a Rs 71 crore contract for Medaram Jatara works. Sure Suresh has accused Srinivas Reddy of meddling in the contract, sparking a heated rift that has now spilled into police action and accusations of political sabotage.
The incident highlights tension within Telangana’s ruling parties and raises questions about the state’s political integrity and corruption investigations.
