Telangana CM Revanth Reddy Pledges Full Support to Archery Star Chikitha Taniparthi for Olympic Glory

In a heartwarming meeting in Hyderabad, Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy promised all-out support to rising archery sensation Chikitha Taniparthi. The 20-year-old champion, who hails from a small village in Peddapalli district, aims to bag medals at the next Olympic Games. Revanth Reddy assured her complete training and resources to chase her dreams on the global stage.

Chikitha made history as the first Indian compound archer to grab the women’s under-21 individual gold at the World Youth Archery Championships 2025, held in Canada. She clinched the title by defeating Korea’s Park Yerin 142-136 in a thrilling final. Before that, she powered past Spain’s European youth champion Paula Diaz Morillas 142-133 in the semifinals. This victory marked her maiden international individual medal, showcasing her sharp skills and determination.

Adding to her impressive tally, Chikitha also snagged a silver medal in the Senior World Cup team event in Shanghai, China. Originally a karate black belt holder, she switched to archery and quickly rose to fame. Coming from Sultanpur village in Eligaid Mandal, her journey from rural roots to world champion inspires many young athletes in India.

During her courtesy visit to the Chief Minister’s Office, Revanth Reddy praised Chikitha’s self-confidence, focus, and grit. "Her story shows how hard work and perseverance can overcome any challenge," he said. He highlighted how she stepped up from a modest background to excel in archery, calling it a true inspiration for today’s youth. The CM also thanked her parents for spotting her talent early and guiding her path.

Revanth Reddy emphasized that the Telangana government prioritizes sports promotion. "We will encourage aspiring sportspersons to win big at events like the Olympics," he added. He wished Chikitha the best for her future achievements and hopes she brings more glory to India.

The meeting saw the presence of MLA Vijaya Ramana Rao, Sports Authority of Telangana Chairman Shivsena Reddy, Rajender Rao, and others. This support from the state government could be a game-changer for archery talents like Chikitha, boosting India’s presence in international archery competitions. Fans and young archers across Telangana are already cheering her on for the road to the Olympics!
