In Reasi district, police seized the property of a Pakistan‑based terror operative, a move said to hit a key node in cross‑border terror networks.
Police in the Mahore area of the district announced that they had attached three kanals and six marlas of land owned by Mohd Sharif Mirasi, the son of Ghulam Mohd from Sildhar Mahore. The land was taken under Section 25 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Mirasi had joined armed groups in 2000. He fled to Pakistan in 2010 to buy weapons, get training and plan attacks against India. The police said he first joined Hizbul Mujahideen and later worked with the banned Lashkar‑e‑Tayyibain (LeT). His operations were linked to the FIR No. 70/2024 filed in Mahore police station and charged under UAPA sections 61(2), 148 and 149, plus the Immoral Commerce and Money Laundering Act.
Senior Superintendent of Police Reasi, Paramvir Singh, called the property attachment a “decisive blow” to the logistics, finance and operations of terrorist groups. He warned that the move sends a strong message to anyone who supports anti‑national activities inside or outside India.
The Jammu and Kashmir police are intensifying anti‑terror operations across the state. Recent raids in Srinagar seized 18 sites linked to terror sympathisers, while security forces target drug smugglers, hawala financiers and other support networks that help insurgents. The strategy aims to dismantle the entire terror ecosystem in the valley, not just its armed fighters.
Jammu and Kashmir police remain committed to keeping the region safe, continuing to attach property and curb the infrastructure that fuels terrorism.
