Sri Lanka won the toss and opted to bat first in the 18th match of the ICC Women’s World Cup at the R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo. The decision followed a strong opening display against New Zealand, and captain Chamari Athapaththu said the team felt ready to repeat their success.

South Africa made three lineup changes before the game. The new players – Sune Luus, Karabo Meso and Nondumiso Shangase – replace Anneke Bosch, Sinalo Jafta and Tumi Sekhukhune. “We’ve had good results chasing,” said South Africa’s captain Laura Wolvaardt. “Batting second is fine, especially with the rain risk. We’re getting used to the conditions that look different at this time of year.”
