Union Home Minister Amit Shah kicked off the NDA’s campaign for the 2024 Bihar Assembly elections on Friday, stepping onto the stage in Saran district’s Taraiya block. With thousands in the crowd, he launched a sharp warning against a return to the “Jungle Raj” era that once ruled the state.

“We need to remind the youth of Bihar about the fear‑filled times of the past 20 years and pledge to keep that darkness away,” Shah told locals. “Now is the time to make sure those who caused that terror never come to power again.” He said the rally in Saran‑Chhapra was the perfect place to make this appeal.

Shah underscored that the fight against the Jungle Raj continues. He said the NDA will form Bihar’s government with the biggest majority in two decades. “Nitish Kumar fought against Jungle Raj in the past. Today, the NDA – under my party’s leadership and Prime Minister Narendra Modi – is still up for the challenge,” he declared.

Addressing the RJD, Shah struck a direct jab at the party’s ticket distribution. “I saw the RJD’s candidate list – Shahabuddin’s son is on it. If Bihar is still heading to a party that gives tickets to that lineage, can it stay safe? To keep Bihar safe, we need a government led by Modi and Nitish Kumar,” he said.

He also praised Modi’s role in the historic Ram Temple in Ayodhya. “For 550 years, Lord Ram Lalla was only in a hut in his birthplace. In 2019, Prime Minister Modi broke ground for the new temple and completed its construction with a consecration ceremony. We’re also building a magnificent temple for Goddess Sita in Punaura Dham, Sitamarhi,” Shah added.

Shah highlighted key achievements of the NDA government in Bihar under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. “The current government provides 125 units of free electricity to 1.67 crore families and has increased pensions for the elderly, widows, and disabled to ₹1,100. Modi and Nitish have transferred ₹10,000 to every Jeevika sister’s account. Today, Bihar’s infrastructure is so advanced that you can travel across the state in just five hours,” he noted.
