Prime Minister Narendra Modi took the stage at the NDTV World Summit 2025 in New Delhi and spoke strongly about India’s shift from quiet diplomacy to decisive action against terrorism. “The era of a silent India is over,” Modi told an audience that included Sri Lankan Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya, former U.K. Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott. He highlighted Operation Sindoor, the May 7, 2025 military strikes on Pakistani‑occupied Kashmir and Punjab, as proof that India now responds with precise, surgical strikes and airpower.

Operation Sindoor targeted terrorist infrastructure linked to Lashkar‑e‑Ta‑iba, Jaish‑e‑Mohammed, and Hizbul Mujahideen. India’s Air Force, Navy and Army launched stand‑off precision missiles that destroyed dozens of facilities and neutralized over 100 operatives. The operation was India’s retaliation for the April 22 attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, that killed 26 people and underscored the country’s zero‑tolerance stance on terror.

Modi framed the operation as part of a broader strategy that includes past surgical strikes in 2016 and the 2019 Balakot airstrike, which struck terror camps after the Uri and Pulwama attacks. “We are a self‑reliant India that does not stay silent,” he said. “We give a befitting response through surgical strikes, airstrikes, and Operation Sindoor.”

Beyond security, Modi highlighted India’s economic resilience. He noted that since the COVID‑19 pandemic, India’s growth rate has averaged 7.8 percent over the last three years. Modi also cited a recent 7 percent rise in merchandise exports, released just two days ago, as evidence that the economy is still robust despite global slowdowns.

The NDTV World Summit, which opened on Friday, brought together policymakers, innovators and cultural figures. Modi’s keynote set an assertive tone. He urged India to stay self‑reliant, defend its sovereignty, and keep driving growth even as global uncertainty rises. His message positions India as a firm and confident player on the world stage, ready to tackle both security threats and economic challenges.
