PVL 2025: Goa Guardians pull off spectacular 3-2 comeback against Delhi Toofans

Hyderabad, Oct 19 – In a dramatic finish at the Gachibowli Indoor Stadium, the Goa Guardians trumped the Delhi Toofans 16‑14, 15‑11, 15‑11, 16‑13, 15‑11 in a 3‑2 win in the Prime Volleyball League. The victory gave Goa a solid fourth‑place spot on the table with 10 points, while player of the match honors went to Goa’s star inside hitter, Prince.

The match kicked off with both teams trading points in a tight opening set. Early points for the Toofans came from Jesus Chourio and Muhammed Jasim, but Goa’s Dushyant Singh launched a powerful super‑serve that gave the Guardians a brief lead. As the set progressed, Jeffrey Menzel of Goa tried to seal it, yet the Toofans’ dynamic duo of Anu James and Chourio popped in at the crucial moments, taking the first set 16‑14.

Delhi’s momentum carried into the second set. Carlos Berrios dominated from the outside, and with safety net play from Menzel, the Guardians stayed competitive. Setter Saqlain Tariq’s sharp assists to Chourio and Berrios, however, allowed the Toofans to win 15‑11 and pull ahead two sets to love.

Goa then answered with a surge in the third set. Nathaniel’s aggressive attacks and Chirag Yadav’s hard‑hitting serves lifted the Guardians. Prince anchored the defense with a powerful block, and Goa closed the rally to claim the set 15‑11.

The fourth set saw the Toofans pushing to close the match early, but Menzel’s explosive spikes and Prince’s dominant presence at the net sparked a comeback. Prince capped the set with a stunning super‑serve, leveling the match at two sets apiece with a 16‑13 win.

The finale was a back‑and‑forth battle. Both sides traded points early, but Goa’s Aravindan executed a clever setter dump, and Prince continued to dominate at the net. Anu James fought hard for Delhi, but Chirag Yadav fired a decisive super‑point spike to give Goa the win – 15‑11 in the fifth set – and a well‑deserved 3‑2 victory.

The Guardians’ comeback win in Hyderabad has fans buzzing and highlights the growing intensity of the Prime Volleyball League. With this result, Goa moves up to fourth and keeps their championship hopes alive.
