Australia’s women’s cricket team face a setback after captain Alyssa Healy suffered a minor calf strain during a training session last Saturday. That injury means Healy will skip the World Cup match against England on Sunday, October 25, and she may also miss the final group game versus South Africa if she does not recover in time.

With Healy out, vice‑captain Tahlia McGrath will guide the team. Wicket‑keeper Beth Mooney will take the gloves, and slotting into the side is defender Georgia Voll, giving Australia a full XI for the high‑octane encounter.

Both Australia and England stand at nine points in the tournament, having won four of their five games, though England’s match against Sri Lanka was abandoned by rain. The Australian side edges ahead on the points table thanks to a higher net run rate. Both teams will be looking to keep their unbeaten streak alive as they head into the semi–finals.

Healy has been the team’s most consistent run‑maker, racking up 294 runs in just four games, including two centuries. Her 142 off 107 against India was the sixth ODI century of her career and her first as captain, side‑by‑side with her country’s highest successful chase in women’s ODI history. She followed that with a not‑out 113 in a 10‑wicket victory over Bangladesh, marking her second century in a row.

Australia started the World Cup with an 89‑run win over New Zealand. After an abandoned match against Sri Lanka, they went on to beat Pakistan, India and Bangladesh in the remaining games. The team’s momentum now hinges on Healy’s recovery and the leadership of Tahlia McGrath against England.
