Rajasthan Police Bust Drug Smuggling Ring: Doctor and Shopkeeper Arrested with 29 kg of Illegal Narcotics
In a bold move against drug smuggling in Rajasthan, the Crime Branch teamed up with Kotputli Police to nab two key suspects—a doctor and a local shop owner. They seized a whopping 29 kg of narcotic capsules and syrups, striking a big blow to illegal drug trafficking in the area.
The raid kicked off after a tip-off about shady drug sales in Kotputli. On the evening of September 8, a special team led by Inspector Ram Singh Nathawat swooped down on a grocery shop near the blacksmith camp in Transport Nagar. The shop belonged to Manoj Kumar Jat, a 35-year-old local, and it was packed with Proxyco-SPAS capsules. When questioned, Manoj spilled the beans about more stock hidden in a nearby warehouse. The police recovered a massive haul of 48,576 capsules from both spots.
Digging deeper during interrogation, Manoj pointed fingers at Dr. Avinash Sharma, a 39-year-old doctor running a clinic on the highway. The cops wasted no time and raided the clinic, grabbing another 1,240 narcotic capsules and 14 bottles of syrup. In total, they confiscated 49,816 capsules and 14 syrup bottles, weighing 29.389 kg. The drugs included popular ones like Proxyco-SPAS, Proxiohm-SPAS, Symdex-Plus, Proximex-SPAS, Anrex capsules, and Antop syrup—all banned narcotics under Indian law.
This high-stakes operation happened under the guidance of ADG Crime Dinesh MN, with DIG Deepak Bhargava and ASP Siddhant Sharma overseeing the action. Drug Control Officers Mukesh Chaudhary and Lata Bharti were on hand to verify the seizure. The team also included Devendra Singh, Head Constable Mahavir Singh, Constable Jitendra Singh, and Hemant Sharma, who played crucial roles in the bust. Kotputli SHO Rajesh Kumar Sharma and his squad from DST Kotputli-Baharod jumped in to support the effort.
Both accused now face serious charges under the NDPS Act—Sections 8/21 and 8/22 for possessing and selling illegal drugs. Dr. Sharma also got hit with Section 8/29 for supplying the narcotics. The police sealed the drugs and stored them safely for further probe, hoping this crackdown uncovers a larger drug smuggling network in Rajasthan.
This arrest highlights the growing fight against drug trafficking in India, especially with professionals like doctors getting involved. Stay tuned for updates on this Rajasthan drug bust as investigations continue.
