Women’s World Cup: Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, ICC chief Jay Shah among those enjoying the final

In a packed DY Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai, India hosted South Africa in the Women’s Cricket World Cup final on Sunday. The game drew fans braving a drizzle, plus an excited crowd of cricket stars and celebrities.

The match saw India struggle against the rain‑delayed start. After a two‑hour delay, the first batsman was sent to the crease at 5 p.m., with no overs cut. India finished their 50‑over innings at 298 for 7, a solid score that kept the title hopes alive.

Among the supporters were cricket legends Sachin Tendulkar and Rohit Sharma. Tendulkar, shown by the broadcasters, stood in the stands with former icon Sunil Gavaskar, VVS Laxman, and Brijesh Patel. Rohit came with his wife, Ritika, and chatted with ICC Chairman Jay Shah and Nita Ambani, owner of the Mumbai Indians and a key figure in the IPL.

The atmosphere was electric when Bollywood singer Sunidhi Chauhan sang the national anthem before kickoff and performed during the break. Fireworks and lights added to the spectacle.

The Women’s World Cup final marks India’s third appearance on home soil. With a competitive score against a solid South African side, fans and legends alike celebrated cricket’s growing global reach.
