Days after Delhi blast, Army Chief reaffirms hardline stand on Pakistan

Indian soldiers are standing firm against terrorism while keeping the door open for talks.
On Monday at the Chanakya Defence Dialogue 2025, Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi said India would not allow terrorism to shape its foreign policy. “Blood and water cannot flow together,” he told reporters, stressing that diplomacy can’t coexist with terror attacks.
He warned that if Pakistan acts in a “misadventure,” India would respond decisively. “If they try to black‑mail India, remember we are ready and fearless,” he added.
Operation Sindoor highlights quick action
The Chief described Operation Sindoor, the recent 88‑hour strike that hit a terror training camp, as a “trailer” and said the real work was only beginning. He praised the joint effort of the army, air force, navy and the Central Armed Police Forces, calling it a multi‑domain operation. “Decision‑making must be fast, and everyone must work together,” he said.
Long‑term outlook
While he said it’s impossible to predict how long future conflicts could last, the Chief urged the armed forces to be prepared for up to four years. “Our deterrence is now stronger than ever,” he said.
Peace in Jammu and Kashmir
The chief highlighted major improvements in the former conflict zone. Terror incidents have dropped sharply; in the past year 31 terrorists were killed, 61 % of whom were Pakistanis. He noted, “nothing like stone‑petting incidents or slogans, everything has stopped.”
Tourist numbers in Jammu and Kashmir have jumped, with many former residents returning to work. The Army’s Goodwill Schools in the valley are now thriving, with many children eager to join programs run by doctors, engineers and Army officers.
