Sathya Sai Baba influenced lives of crores with his services: CM Chandrababu Naidu

Puttaparthi, Nov 23 (LatestNewsX) – Andhra Pradesh’s Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described Sri Sathya Sai Baba as “god in human form” and credited him with shaping the lives of millions through his social work, conflict resolution, spirituality, non‑violence and teachings about liberation.
Speaking at the centenary events for Sathya Sai Baba in Puttaparthi, the Chief Minister urged everyone to “Love all, serve all, Help ever, hurt never”.
“It was on November 23, 1926 that Sathya Sai Baba took birth in this holy land with a purpose,” Naidu said. “He spent 86 years here, sharing Bhagwan Sai’s philosophy, imparting knowledge and pointing people on the right path.”
He recalled that from age eight, Sathya Sai Baba embodied divine thoughts through prayers, kirtans and bhajans. When he turned 14 on May 23, 1940, he abandoned his original name, Satyanarayana Raju, and identified as Sathya Sai.
“Gods incarnate somewhere. Sri Sathya Sai chose this holy land,” the CM explained. “He turned Puttaparthi, situated on the banks of the Chitravati River, into a hub of spirituality and divine presence.”
Naidu said that Sathya Sai Baba ushered in a new era founded on truth, righteousness, peace, love and non‑violence.
High‑profile guests—including Vice‑President C. P. Radhakrishnan, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Minister Nara Lokesh and many dignitaries—attended the celebrations and paid respects at Sathya Sai Maha Samadhi.
He remarked that Sathya Sai Baba’s outreach materialised with the establishment of Sathya Sai institutions in 1960. “Sathya Sai Baba aimed for universal peace, happiness and welfare for all,” he added. “People of wealth and stature, both from India and abroad, came voluntarily to follow his path, discovering a peace in Puttaparthi that was unparalleled elsewhere.”
The Chief Minister noted that, even in Sathya Sai Baba’s absence, the place remains infused with his inspiration. He referred to Prasanthi Nilayam as an energy centre.
“Founded 75 years ago on this day, Prasanthi Nilayam turned into a platform for spiritual gatherings and a sanctuary offering solutions to devotees’ suffering,” he said.
Naidu highlighted that Sathya Sai Baba’s belief in serving humanity as offering service to God led to the expansion of the Sathya Sai Central Trust. The Trust now provides medicine, education, clean drinking water and mental well‑being to millions, both within the country and overseas.
He pointed out that 60,000 students benefit from free education across 102 Sathya Sai schools, while hospitals run by the Trust treat about 3,000 patients daily.
“The Trust quenched the thirst of more than 30 lakh people in 1,600 villages across Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Tamil Nadu, spending Rs 550 crore,” Naidu reported. He also noted the Trust’s investment of Rs 250 crore in modernising the Chennai drinking water project.
Since its inception, the Sathya Sai Trust has expanded to 140 countries, operating 2,000 centres worldwide. The Sathya Sai International Organization continues to spread Sai philosophy through 10 global zones.
“Our institutions boast 7.50 lakh dedicated service members—a source of pride,” the CM said. “The state government is officially organising the centenary celebrations to highlight Sathya Sai’s contributions.”
He congratulated Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy for his role in officially organising the centenary in Telangana as well.
