US, Ukraine say Geneva talks make ‘progress’ but differences remain

In Geneva on November 24, U.S. and Ukrainian officials announced that their talks over the 28‑point plan aimed at ending the conflict in Ukraine had “made progress,” although certain details remain unsettled as the parties work to reconcile their differences.
After a session in which Ukraine met with national‑security advisers from Britain, France and Germany, the Ukrainian delegation continued the day with bilateral talks with U.S. representatives, according to Xinhua News Agency.

That evening, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Andriy Yermak, head of the Ukrainian Presidential Office, addressed reporters separately and issued statements.
Rubio called the negotiations the “most productive and meaningful” since the process began, noting that the teams had tackled each key point one at a time and achieved “good progress.” He said the groups were now reviewing the proposals raised during the meeting and working to narrow a few remaining differences, adding that the U.S. and Ukraine were moving closer to a draft they could both accept, though the final text would still need the approval of the two presidents.

Yermak described the discussions with U.S. delegates as “very productive,” confirming that “very good progress” was being made toward a “just and lasting peace.” He added that both sides would continue to refine the proposals over the coming days and would also bring European partners into the process as it advances.

Neither side took questions from the press, explaining that they were still finalising updates and preparing for the next stages. Both diplomats said they would return later in the evening with further details.
