New Delhi: Earlier this week the Delhi Police arrested a man who had taken jewelry from his own relative’s house. A team from the Bindapur Police Station in the Dwarka district later recovered the stolen gold pieces after the arrest.

On 9 November, an e‑Fir (No. 80106448/25) under Section 305 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita was logged at Bindapur Police Station. The complainant, Manjinder Kaur, wife of Aslam Saleem, lives on Arya Samaj Road in Uttam Nagar. She reported that unknown people had stolen jewelry from her apartment. The police team filed the e‑Fir after speaking with her.

In line with the DCP of Dwarka District’s zero‑tolerance directive, a focused crack squad was assembled from Bindapur Police Station. The team, led by Inspector Naresh Sangwan and under the overall direction of Assistant Commissioner Rajkumar, comprised Head Constables Neeraj and Ashok, Constable Rajesh Dagar, and Constable Ashish.

The investigators went to the crime scene to review CCTV footage from the apartment and its surroundings. The evidence showed no signs of forced entry or broken locks. This led the officers to suspect that someone familiar with the property, or living nearby, had facilitated the burglary.

During questioning, the team discovered that a cousin of the complainant had visited the house and stayed for three days. The cousin, Parmjeet Singh from GTB Nagar, Ludhiana, was identified by the officers. At first, he claimed to be Sub‑Inspector Parmveer Singh but could not produce any ID and failed to explain his alleged posting.

Suspecting deception, the police carried out a more intensive interrogation. Eventually Parmjeet admitted he worked as a commission agent dealing in old cars and confessed to the theft. He said he had hidden the stolen jewelry in his maternal grandfather’s house in Ambota, Himachal Pradesh, concealing it inside a bed.

Following his confession, the officers arrested Parmjeet and brought him to court, where he was remanded. A police team then accompanied him to Himachal Pradesh, where the recovered items were successfully retrieved.

The investigation continues.
