Over 200 underage drinkers arrested at Arizona bar in wild police raid: cops

Police arrested 249 people for underage drinking during a massive raid at a single bar — the second major bust there this year.

The Tempe Police Department carried out the operation on November 20, 2025, at Tempe Tavern in Arizona after receiving repeated complaints from residents about underage patrons frequenting the bar.

According to officials, around 57 law enforcement officers entered the bar and launched an investigation that resulted in 249 underage individuals being taken into custody on various charges, including using fake IDs, underage intoxication, and giving false information.

Of those arrested, 246 were released, while three were booked into the Tempe City Jail.

This isn’t the first time Tempe Tavern has been at the center of a major underage drinking sweep. Back on April 28, 2025, officers arrested 173 people holding fake IDs during a similar enforcement operation.

The Department of Liquor Licenses and Control will now take the lead on any administrative liquor law violations tied to the bar.

A Tempe Police spokesperson detailed the operation, noting that officers from several units — including Patrol, SRS, Night Traffic, Detention, DLLC, HSI, and the Bike Squad — participated.

“After multiple complaints from community members about underage drinking at various dates and times, officers conducted an investigation that led to 249 arrests for offenses including, but not limited to, possessing fake IDs, underage intoxication, and providing false information,” the spokesperson said.
