Beer made from bath and laundry water hits shelves: eww or brew?

Epic Cleantec, the San Francisco cleantech startup that installs high‑tech wastewater purification systems in major commercial buildings—including Salesforce Tower—is now brewing two beers made from recycled shower and laundry water.

The lineup features the crisp “Shower Hour IPA” and the light, smooth “Laundry Club Kölsch,” both crafted from reclaimed graywater that the company says is cleaner than tap water in most U.S. cities.

In a YouTube video, they highlighted the purpose‑driven nature of the beers, stressing the use of ultra‑clean recycled water and sustainably sourced ingredients. Epic hopes that the novelty of its drinks will shift public perception about drinking recycled wastewater.

They plan to produce 250,000 cans next year, in partnership with Devil’s Canyon Brewing Company in San Carlos, and the beers are already selling online while set to hit shelves at BevMo, Total Wine & More, and Bianchini’s Market. Bottoms up—just enjoy the brew and let the past roll off your tongue.
