Grand Alliance meeting: Tejashwi elected legislative party leader; Oppn charts strategy for assembly session

Patna – On Saturday, a Grand Alliance gathering took place in Patna, where Tejashwi Yadav was elected by unanimous vote as the leader of the Alliance’s legislative party.
During the meeting, leaders from both the RJD and Congress shared their stances ahead of the next session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly and outlined how the opposition plans to act. Congresman Sameer Kumar Singh said that all affiliated parties had agreed to move forward in close coordination and that the Grand Alliance would function as a constructive opposition.
He added that Tejashwi Yadav’s manifesto—centered on tackling unemployment and other public‑centric concerns—would guide the campaign from the streets straight into the corridors of power. Referencing recent poll studies, Sameer pointed out that early indicators had suggested lower support for Nitish Kumar and higher backing for Tejashwi. He also claimed that the figures had been tampered with by the Election Commission and the state administration, urging party workers to stay hopeful and united.
Sameer dismissed reports of Congress MLAs abandoning their posts for Delhi or hinting at a split. He clarified that a handful of MLAs had indeed been summoned to Delhi, two had since returned, and four remained there, stressing that no MLA was defecting and that the Alliance remained whole. He offered to arrange a press‑coordinated meeting with MLA Habibur Rahman to counter the rumors.
RJD MLA Bhai Virendra laid out the upcoming Assembly agenda: the swearing‑in of members is slated for December 1, followed by the Speaker’s election on December 2, the Governor’s address, and the introduction of the Appropriation Bill. He reiterated that the opposition would loudly challenge any misguided government policies and stay active throughout the session on matters of public interest.
Both leaders reaffirmed their challenge to the recent election outcomes, asserting that the mandate had been manipulated. Bhai Virendra remarked, “Public conversations on the streets reflect a belief that the Grand Alliance received the votes, but the results were rigged. The time will come when answers will be sought.” He emphasized that the fight is not about numbers but about principles. “The opposition will consistently raise public‑interest issues regardless of who is in power. The Grand Alliance will keep a close watch on the government’s promises—especially regarding law and order and employment. If the NDA government fails to deliver, the Grand Alliance will bring the struggle directly to the people,” he concluded.
