NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch meets with ex-Mayor Bill de Blasio after she agrees to stay on job

On Saturday, former Mayor Bill de Blasio was seen eating out with police Commissioner Jessica Tisch at the Flora restaurant in Park Slope.
They both declined to say what was on the agenda of their meeting.

A source close to the discussion mentioned that de Blasio had asked for a relaxed gathering with Tisch, someone he’s known well from his time in office.
In 2019, de Blasio promoted Tisch to commissioner of the New York City Department of Information Technology and Telecommunications, where she directed the city’s IT response during the height of the global COVID‑19 pandemic.
Prior to that, she assisted the de Blasio administration as deputy for information technology under police commissioner William Bratton.
Tisch, who held the posts of sanitation commissioner and later police commissioner under current Mayor Eric Adams, has agreed to stay on as the NYPD chief when Mayor‑elect Zohran Mamdani takes office — Mamdani being one of de Blasio’s picks in this year’s election.

A number of former de Blasio aides are slated to return to City Hall or have accepted significant roles on Mamdani’s transition team.
Dean Fuleihan, who once served as de Blasio’s first deputy mayor, will retain the same influential position under Mamdani.
