Itanagar, Nov 30 (LatestNewsX) – Governor of Arunachal Pradesh, Lt‑General K. T. Parnaik (Retd.), met with the Eastern Command chief, Lt‑General R.C. Tiwari, on Sunday to talk about a spectrum of matters tied to national security and civil‑military harmony, officials reported.
The Eastern Command commander, accompanied by Lt‑General Abhijit S. Pendharkar, Deputy Commander‑in‑Chief of the 3 Corps, paid a visit to the Governor’s residence at Raj Bhavan in Itanagar.
According to a Raj Bhavan spokesperson, the conversation went beyond border security. Topics included the welfare of former servicemen, resolution of land dispute cases, and other affairs concerning the Army’s interaction with the state administration.
The Governor reiterated his vision of “Sashakt, Surakshit aur Viksit Bharat,” highlighting the state’s dedication to boosting defence capabilities, upgrading infrastructure, embracing modern technology, supporting “Atmanirbhar Bharat,” and protecting the interests of soldiers and veterans.
He added that a resilient, safe, and forward‑moving India not only strengthens national stability but also champions ethical use of cutting‑edge technology and promotes humanitarian principles worldwide.
Speaking on behalf of the people of Arunachal Pradesh, the Governor lauded the Eastern Army Commander for maintaining peace along the frontier, fostering solid community ties, and adopting a cooperative stance in rolling out the “Vibrant Village Programme.”
He noted that the goodwill generated by the Indian Armed Forces has substantially lifted the economic prospects of border residents while simultaneously tightening national security in these volatile regions.
Governor Parnaik urged the Army Commander to hold regular rallies for Ex‑Servicemen across the state’s rugged terrain, stressing the importance of ensuring full participation from Veer Naris to honour their sacrifices and recognize their critical role within the veteran community.
During the same visit, the Governor extended warm wishes to the state’s citizens on Indigenous Faith Day, expressing his hope that the festivities will inspire people to keep alive the ancient faith systems cherished by their ancestors.
In his address, the Governor reminded that Arunachal Pradesh is home to a diverse array of tribal groups, each with distinct cultures, lifestyles, beliefs, and customs that have been carefully preserved and transmitted through generations.
A statement from Raj Bhavan said that the day, devoted to honouring indigenous faiths, cultures, and traditions, showcases the unique cultural heritage of the local communities. Quoting the Governor, the statement noted that it also reinforces the state’s distinctive culture, which has long promoted peace, harmony among tribal peoples, and a strong bond with nature.
To reinforce this spirit, the Governor said we must respect the beliefs of indigenous peoples and safeguard their remarkable culture and traditions.
