Security Forces Neutralise Two Naxalites in Bijapur Encounter

In a fresh clash in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district, security forces took down two naxalites during an intense encounter on Friday. Officials shared the update, highlighting ongoing efforts to curb naxal activities in the region.

The operation unfolded in the south-west part of Bijapur, though exact details on the spot remain under wraps for security reasons. This comes hot on the heels of a major success on Thursday, where security forces neutralised 10 naxalites, including top commander Manoj from the Naxal Central Committee. They seized 10 weapons in that operation too, dealing a big blow to the insurgents.

On Thursday, Inspector General of Raipur Range, Amresh Mishra, confirmed an ongoing encounter in Gariaband district. "Security forces are facing off against naxals with bursts of firing. A few naxals are likely down," he said.

Chhattisgarh’s Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Sharma praised the joint effort by CRPF’s CoBRA commandos, state police, and District Reserve Guard (DRG). "It was an outstanding operation—restrained and effective. The two-day mission wiped out all 10 naxals, including one with a Rs 1 crore bounty. Nine others fell too," Sharma told .

Firing continued sporadically into Friday morning in Gariaband, with special units like E-30, STF, and CoBRA holding the ground.

In another quick win, forces neutralised one more naxal near the Kanker-Narayanpur border. Officials identified him as a member of PLGA Military Company 05, carrying a Rs 8 lakh reward. These back-to-back encounters show security forces ramping up pressure on naxals in Chhattisgarh.
