Actor Vishal Jethwa is on cloud nine after his latest film Homebound wowed audiences at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). The young star, who plays a key role alongside Ishaan Khatter and Janhvi Kapoor, says the overwhelming praise has left him speechless.

"I’m honestly a bit taken aback by all this love and appreciation," Vishal shared in a recent chat. "I didn’t expect such a reaction. I just trusted Neeraj Ghaywan sir’s vision completely and followed his instructions every step of the way." The film, directed by National Award-winner Neeraj Ghaywan and produced by Dharma Productions, dives into the story of two childhood friends from a small North Indian village. They dream of becoming police officers to earn the respect they never got growing up. But as they chase their goal, mounting pressures and personal struggles test their bond like never before.

Vishal credits his standout performance entirely to Neeraj’s guidance on set. "Everything you’ve appreciated about my role is really a reflection of the direction I got," he added. "Being at TIFF and feeling this warmth from an international crowd is surreal and so humbling."

This isn’t Vishal’s first brush with acclaim. He kicked off his acting journey in 2013 with the lead role of Akbar in the TV show Bharat Ka Veer Putra – Maharana Pratap. By 2015, he stepped into the shoes of Bali Sankatmochan Mahabali Hanuman. The next year brought roles like the terrorist Chota Packet in Diya Aur Baati Hum and Nasir in Peshwa Bajirao.

Vishal made waves in Bollywood with his villainous debut in 2019’s Mardaani 2, starring opposite Rani Mukerji. He kept the momentum going in 2022 with the gripping medical thriller series Human, sharing the screen with Shefali Shah and Kirti Kulhari. In 2023, he lit up Salaam Venky alongside Kajol and Revathi, joined by a stellar cast including Rajeev Khandelwal, Rahul Bose, Prakash Raj, and Aahana Kumra. That same year, he teamed up with Vidyut Jammwal in the action-packed IB 71 and played Hassan Ali in the blockbuster Tiger 3.

Most recently, in December 2024, Vishal starred opposite Avneet Kaur in the thrilling murder mystery Party Till I Die. With Homebound earning raves at TIFF, fans are buzzing about what this talented actor will bring next to Indian cinema and beyond.
