But that’s not all. They’ve gone creative with food-inspired designs like pizza and watermelon crackers. Popular cartoons, games, music themes, and more are drawing in children of all ages. Sivakasi, known as India’s firecracker capital, never disappoints with its innovative fireworks.

Factories Back in Action After Safety Checks
Earlier this year, over 200 firecracker factories in Virudhunagar shut down for about nine days in July. The closures followed strict inspections after a string of factory explosions raised safety concerns. They reopened on July 23, just in time to ramp up production—thanks to warnings that licenses could get canceled otherwise.
The National Green Tribunal (NGT) stepped in with suo motu action, ordering immediate checks on all factories in the district. This push ensures safer practices amid the Diwali rush.
As India gears up for festive lights and sounds, these stories highlight how green initiatives and fun innovations are shaping a brighter, cleaner celebration.
