Delhi Police hold anti-drug trafficking workshop for Aerocity Hotels

New Delhi: In keeping with the government’s “Zero Tolerance” stance on narcotics, Delhi Police ran a focused training and awareness workshop for hotel security officers in Aerocity, the capital’s high‑traffic hospitality hub, last Thursday.

The session—organized by the Anti‑Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of the Crime Branch—was designed to sharpen vigilance against drug trafficking and to tighten cooperation between police and private facilities.

About 85 Chief Security Officers from eleven major hotels in Aerocity attended the workshop. The exercise is part of a broader Delhi Police campaign that uses targeted raids, community outreach and skills training to battle drug abuse and smuggling.

ACP Anil Shram of the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) and Inspector Rakesh Duhan from the ANTF led the training. They covered the current drug landscape in Delhi, the most common categories of illicit substances, tell‑tale signs of abuse, and the key states that feed the supply chain.

The discussion also highlighted the health toll of drug use and stressed the urgent need for coordinated prevention and reporting.

A key feature of the workshop was the demonstration of the MANAS portal (1933), a confidential reporting platform. Security teams were urged to use the portal’s anonymity safeguards to flag suspicious activity without fear of reprisal.

All participants signed the Anti‑Drugs e‑Pledge as part of the initiative.

The program received enthusiastic feedback from guests, including former ACP Abhirup Banerji, now a security consultant at Delhi International Airport Ltd, and Naveen Sehgal, AGM of Aerocity Security. Both praised Delhi Police’s proactive engagement with private security to tackle the drug menace in a busy commercial centre.

Officials said the partnership will markedly improve surveillance across hotels and public spaces in Aerocity.

Delhi Police reaffirmed its pledge to create a “Drug‑Free Delhi” through stringent enforcement and ongoing awareness efforts.
