Jaipur, Dec 9 (LatestNewsX) – The BJP‑led Rajasthan government made a significant move to boost rural water supply by green‑lighting two major projects under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Chief Minister Bhanwar Lal Sharma approved work orders for the Nonera Mega Drinking Water Project and the Parwan–Akawad Drinking Water Scheme, which together aim to bring safe tap water to millions in Kota, Bundi, Baran, and Jhalawar.
The combined bill for both projects comes to ₹5,184 crore. The Nonera initiative will deliver tap water to 113,287 households spread across 749 villages and six towns in the Kota and Bundi areas. With state funds of ₹1,661.14 crore, the plan includes an intake pump house, three treatment facilities, 14 storage reservoirs, 137 elevated tanks, and a 58.45‑km rise‑main pipeline, adding up to a total of 4,506.89 km of new pipeline.
Meanwhile, the Parwan–Akawad scheme, costing ₹3,523.16 crore, seeks to serve 152,437 households in 1,402 villages and 276 hamlets. Its scope covers 907 villages in Baran, 311 in Jhalawar, and 184 in Kota’s Sangod region, and incorporates two treatment plants, two intake pump houses, 41 clear‑water reservoirs, 276 elevated tanks, a 661‑km transmission network, and a 9,477‑km distribution pipeline.
Both projects are slated for completion by August 2027, the government noted. “These ventures represent a meaningful stride toward universal access to safe drinking water and reinforce our commitment to the Jal Jeevan Mission’s goal of tap water in every home,” Sharma said.
