SIT report must reveal masterminds, financers behind Dharamsthala complainant: BJP

Belagavi, Dec 10 (LatestNewsX) – B.Y. Vijayendra, the president of the Karnataka BJP unit, called for the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to not only expose the actions of the “Burude” gang—made up of the complainant and certain activists—but also to reveal who backed them financially and who was orchestrating the alleged “conspiracy.”

When reporters asked him questions on Wednesday, Vijayendra said the activities of the Burude gang had stirred public unease about traditional religious practices. He warned that the state government cannot sit idle while an SIT probe is in motion.

“In the Dharmasthala case, the front‑line figures have been named, but citizens are still asking who the real planners are,” he said. “There are whispers that the masterminds are close to the Chief Minister.” He urged that the SIT submit its findings without delay, criticizing the investigation as sluggish and tailored to the government’s convenience.

Another question prompted him to claim that the government should have realised the extent of the wrongdoing after seeing those who were spreading misinformation about Dharmasthala. “They resembled contract killers, each competing for influence,” he alleged.

Vijayendra further suggested that the conspirators and the people behind the actors are embedded within the state’s own machinery, adding that they are “close to the Chief Minister.” He said this debate is happening across Karnataka and that the truth must be made public.

“This isn’t just a mask‑man issue—it’s a grave conspiracy aimed at offending Hindu sentiments and religious values,” Vijayendra remarked. “There’s no need for an SIT to wait six months to name these individuals; anyone walking the streets can speak up.”

He accused the government of dodging public scrutiny with diversionary tactics.

In a significant development, the SIT investigating the Dharmasthala matter has handed its report over to the Congress‑led state government. The team had already filed a preliminary chargesheet in the local court of Mangaluru district. Sources say the report cleared the temple management while pointing to the complainant and certain activists as conspirators against the temple authorities.

When pressed about his earlier claim that a conspiracy had taken place in the Dharmasthala case—and with reports now indicating that the complainants themselves were named as accused in the chargesheet and report—Deputy Chief Minister and State Congress President D.K. Shivakumar said on Wednesday in Belagavi, “I know the history of Dharmasthala, and I also know that none of them would ever do such a thing. That is why I spoke about this matter with confidence.”
