‘Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’ actress mourned in heartbreaking tributes after deadly NYC crash

The family of Wenne Alton Davis, known for a guest spot on “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” shared a heartfelt tribute just a few days after she was fatally struck by a car in Midtown.
Gary Hunter, her brother‑in‑law, posted on Facebook that “Wendy had a remarkable ability to make people feel seen and welcomed as she always met them in their space,” adding that she was “loved by such a huge and marvelous circle of friends.” He went on to say they “loved her, were proud of her, and will miss her more than words can express,” calling the loss of the 60‑year‑old actress an “unimaginable loss.”
A photo posted by Hunter shows Davis in the center, flanked by her sister and other family members—a snapshot from a recent Facebook post. The actress was crossing Broadway near West 53rd Street at about 9 p.m. on Monday when she was hit by a black 2023 Cadillac XT6, police report the incident. She was taken to Mount Sinai West Hospital but was pronounced dead.
The 61‑year‑old driver remained on the scene and has not faced any charges. Davis had already appeared in several small roles over the years, including “Blindspot,” “Rescue Me,” “The Normal Heart,” and “New Amsterdam,” aside from her 2023 episode of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.” Neighbors noted that she also worked as a Customs and Border Patrol agent at JFK International Airport and was looking forward to retirement.
Her agent, Jamie Harris, told the New York Times that “She had a huge love for New York, for acting, for her colleagues at J.F.K., and, most of all, her family and her circle of friends (which was also huge).”
Hunter reflected that Davis, though born and raised in North Carolina, embraced New York fully after moving to the boroughs. He recalled how she welcomed him into the family the moment he joined, describing her as treating him “like a brother.” He added that Davis had recently visited him and his family in Iowa.
