A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer in Louisiana was bitten on the hand by a non‑citizen who was trying to resist arrest, according to officials from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

The incident, described by DHS as a “gross attack,” took place in the town of Tullos, in central Louisiana, and involved an individual named Maximiliano Perez‑Perez. DHS released a photo that purportedly shows the officer’s hand stained with blood after the assault.

According to a DHS statement, “During the arrest, Perez‑Perez attempted to flee by pushing officers. He used his teeth as a weapon and clamped down on an ICE officer’s hand, breaking the skin and drawing blood.”

The agency also noted, “This criminal illegal alien is being charged with assault after he savagely bit a law enforcement officer in an attempt to evade arrest. DHS law enforcement is facing a 1,150% increase in assaults against them and an 8,000% increase in death threats,” added DHS Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.

McLaughlin added that “this is the reality of what our ICE officers are facing every day as they go to work to simply do their job and enforce the law.” She pointed out that many assaults—including biting and vehicle ramming—occur because some politicians have encouraged illegal aliens to avoid capture.

DHS also stated that Perez‑Perez had entered the United States at an unspecified time and had not been inspected or paroled by an immigration officer.

On the same day, ICE posted a photo that showed an individual who had been accused of threatening federal agents being detained by a Homeland Security Investigations officer. The agency warned that “Threatening to assault, murder or interfere with a federal agent is a FELONY.”

In related news, ICE wrote on X that Logan Murfin of Tulsa, OK, was charged on ten counts after posting on social media that federal agents must be “gunned down, shot & executed.” The post ended with the comment, “Welcome to the find out stage, Logan.”
