8 narco-terrorists killed in latest Eastern Pacific lethal kinetic strikes, SOUTHCOM says

The U.S. Southern Command revealed on Monday that U.S. forces carried out “lethal” attacks on three ships linked to designated terrorist groups, killing a total of eight narco‑terrorists.

According to a post on X, the strikes happened on Dec. 15 under the direction of SecWar Pete Hegseth, with Joint Task Force Southern Spear engaging vessels that were operating in international waters. Intelligence had flagged the boats as moving along well‑known narco‑trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific, where they were suspected of transporting drug supplies.

“Intelligence confirmed that the vessels were transiting along known narco‑trafficking routes in the Eastern Pacific and were engaged in narco‑trafficking,” the command stated. The operation resulted in three casualties on the first vessel, two on the second, and three on the third, bringing the total number of alleged narco‑terrorists eliminated by the campaign to 94 since its launch.

The campaign began on Sept. 2 with an action that killed 11 alleged members of Tren de Aragua, and U.S. forces have since targeted a range of craft—including submersibles, fishing boats, and high‑speed vessels—across the Eastern Pacific and Caribbean to dismantle networks such as Venezuela’s Tren de Aragua and Colombia’s Ejército de Liberación Nacional.

Earlier this month, the Trump administration rolled out the “Fentanyl Free America” initiative, and the Department of Justice’s Drug Enforcement Administration reports that the strikes on suspected Caribbean drug vessels are helping to reduce the flow of illegal narcotics into the United States.
