Miriam Adelson jokingly offers Trump $250M for third-term bid: ‘Think about it’

At a White House Hanukkah celebration on Tuesday night, billionaire Miriam Adelson joked that she’d chip in $250 million to back Donald Trump’s next run if he ever decided to defy the 22nd Amendment and seek a third term in 2028.
She told Trump that she’d had a conversation with former Harvard Law professor Alan Dershowitz, who explained the constitutional restriction. “I met Alan Dershowitz. He explained the legal view of the four‑term limit. I nodded, saying ‘Alan, I agree with you.’ So let’s keep it in mind,” Adelson said during the bash.
While the crowd sang “four more years!,” Adelson slipped into Trump’s ear and added an inaudible comment that the former president later revealed to his guests: “The widow of late casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, who was born in Israel and has a fortune close to $42 billion, confirmed that she will give.”
Adelson’s family has been a longtime supporter of leaders who champion the Jewish state, including Trump in previous campaigns. Her willingness to bankroll a potential 2028 campaign comes at a time when Trump, 79, has repeatedly teased that possibility—selling “Trump 2028” merchandise and hinting at a comeback—despite the Constitution’s clear two‑term limit.
Alan Dershowitz has yet to comment on his legal interpretation that would allow Trump to remain in office through January 2033. Trump has swung between insisting he’s serious about another bid and acknowledging the legal barriers.
During a trip to Asia in October, Trump ruled out the idea of partnering with Vice‑Presidential hopeful JD Vance, which would theoretically let him sidestep the election restriction by first serving as VP and then resigning so a new election could be held. “I don’t think people would be on board with that. It’s too gimmicky and not right,” he told reporters.
In a recent Vanity Fair interview, White House chief of staff Susie Wiles stated that Trump has no real interest in a third term but admitted he “sure is having fun with it.”
