Chennai’s buzzing with big plans for trade! The Eurasia Afro Chamber of Commerce (EACC) just unveiled an exciting push to turn South India, especially Tamil Nadu, into a key hub for international exports. Think medical equipment and electric vehicles (EVs) leading the charge to boost trade between Africa and India.
At a lively investor meet in an Egmore hotel, Dr. Rohit Gupta, EACC’s Global President, shared the vision with the media. “Our goal is to build strong trade ties between Africa and South India, ramping up cross-border investments tied to Africa’s growing economy,” he said.
Dr. Gupta dropped a major update: EACC signed a deal to make Tamil Nadu its operational base in South India. This spotlights the state as the launchpad for trade across Asia, Africa, and Europe. “We’re transforming South India into a vibrant trade market, with Tamil Nadu at the heart,” he added, praising the region’s manufacturing muscle and export potential.
Africa’s demand for EVs and medical equipment is skyrocketing, and Tamil Nadu’s solid infrastructure makes it the perfect export gateway. “Countries like Ghana, Liberia, and Morocco are eager for these products, so we’ll ship them straight from here,” Dr. Gupta explained.
The team has already reached out to the Tamil Nadu government, Central government, and embassies to kick things off. They’re gearing up for a Global Investment Market launch between November and December, once approvals come through.
EACC aims to attract Rs 2000 crores in investments using a secure, guarantee-based export model. “By linking Asia, Africa, and Europe, we’re boosting economic diplomacy, opening fair investment doors, and speeding up sustainable global growth,” Dr. Gupta wrapped up. This could be a game-changer for Tamil Nadu’s role in international trade and EVs exports!
