The Delhi government confirmed on Friday that a group of 24 senior officials from 23 Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation (ITEC) partner countries toured the government e‑Marketplace (GeM) headquarters. The trip was part of a capacity‑building program that follows a Memorandum of Understanding between GeM and the Arun Jaitley National Institute of Financial Management (AJNIFM).
In a statement, the Ministry of Commerce said the visit marks a big step forward in global cooperation on digital public‑procurement reforms. It highlighted how GeM and AJNIFM share the goal of spreading best‑practice procurement knowledge worldwide and boosting performance across borders.
GeM leaders emphasized that the platform turns public buying into a fast, fair and open online marketplace. “Our goal is to make procurement not only efficient but inclusive,” said GeM chief executive officer Mihir Kumar. “When buyers and sellers connect on a trustworthy platform, the whole country benefits.”
The program gave delegates a close look at GeM’s digital architecture and its award‑winning procurement methods. It also showed how the platform is fixing long‑standing problems in traditional purchasing and proving that tech‑driven solutions can change the entire public‑procurement landscape.
Looking ahead, GeM says it will keep leading the push for digital procurement reform worldwide, sharing India’s experience with partner nations and helping them adopt scalable, transparent, and inclusive procurement practices.
In other news, GeM reached a historic milestone, reaching Rs 15 lakh crore in cumulative gross merchandise value (GMV) since its launch in 2016. The achievement underscores the trust that buyers and sellers across India place in GeM’s vision for a transparent, efficient and inclusive public‑procurement ecosystem.
