Hyderabad – 3 December (LatestNewsX) – IndiGo faced extensive disruptions at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, pulling 40 of its flights from the schedule on Wednesday. By 7 p.m., the airport spokesman reported that 19 departures and 21 arrivals had been cancelled.
“We are aware that a few flights at RGIA are experiencing delays and schedule changes due to operational reasons. Our teams at the airport are working closely with the airlines to support their operations and assist passengers with timely information and guidance,” an advisory posted by the RGIA on its social media platforms read.
“Operations at RGIA remain normal. Passengers are kindly advised to check the latest status of their flights with their respective airlines before heading to the airport. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation,” it added.
In total, 54 flights were cancelled over the past two days. Airport sources said that on Tuesday, 9 departures and 5 arrivals were called off. The cancellations hit major domestic routes, leaving hundreds of travelers scrambling.
Among those affected, arrivals from Visakhapatnam, Goa, Ahmedabad, Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Madurai, Hubballi, Bhopal, and Bhubaneswar were all blocked on Wednesday, with departures to Delhi, Bengaluru, Bhubaneswar, Hubballi, and Bhopal likewise grounded. On Tuesday, flights from Raipur, Coimbatore, Udaipur, Ahmedabad, and Goa were cancelled, as were departures to those destinations plus Kolkata and Visakhapatnam. Nine other flights to Delhi, Bengaluru, Kolkata, Goa, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad were delayed that day.
The turmoil left many passengers stranded at the airport, particularly those on domestic legs required for connecting international flights. Devotees heading to Ayappa were also hit hard; those who had booked the Hyderabad‑Kochi IndiGo link were stuck due to the delay and reported no response from airline staff about refunds. Their plans for ‘darshan’ at Sabrimala were severely disrupted.
