PRNewswire – Mumbai, October 10
ACES India, a fully owned unit of Saudi‑based ACES, has teamed up with Republic‑owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) to roll out advanced 4G and 5G In‑Building Solutions (IBS) along the 33.5 km underground section of Mumbai’s new Aqua Line‑3 metro. The move delivers high‑speed, reliable mobile connectivity to millions of commuters every day.
The partnership covers all 27 stations and the tunnel network that runs from Acharya Atre Chowk to Cuffe Parade. It marks BSNL’s first deployment of a sophisticated IBS system on a Mumbai metro line, setting a new benchmark for underground connectivity in the city and across Maharashtra.
On the same day, India’s transport and infrastructure agenda hit another milestone. Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a new international airport at Navi Mumbai and unveiled the “Mumbai One App – Limitless Journeys” to streamline city services. He also opened Mumbai Metro Line 3 (Colaba‑Bandra‑SEEPZ), Phase 2B, underscoring the country’s focus on digital connectivity.
Key voices on the project
- Dr. Akram Aburas, Group CEO of ACES, said the partnership is a “milestone in India’s digital infrastructure journey” and that ACES India is championing next‑generation connectivity for urban transit.
- Mohammed N. Mazher, Managing Director of ACES India, highlighted the company’s global expertise and local execution as a strength that will transform how mobile networks mesh with city mobility.
- Harinder Kumar Makkar, Chief General Manager at BSNL Maharashtra, noted that the IBS rollout on Aqua Line‑3 “sets new standards for underground connectivity and public service delivery.”
The signing ceremony drew senior officials from both companies, including BSNL’s Suresh Kumar, Vandana Sethi, and Vinod Kumar Dwivedi, alongside ACES leadership. The event reaffirms BSNL’s pledge to expand next‑generation telecom infrastructure in high‑density urban zones.
Why this matters
ACES India focuses on digital transformation in smart mobility, transport, and infrastructure, while BSNL remains a leading telecom provider in India, offering mobile, broadband, fiber, and enterprise services. Their collaboration on the Mumbai Metro showcases how global technology can be coupled with local know‑how to bring 5G and 4G coverage deeper into built environments.
With this IBS deployment, Mumbai takes a step forward in its goal of becoming a fully connected city—fueling business, easing daily commutes, and paving the way for smarter, faster public transport across the nation.
