Ahmedabad, Nov 14 – Adani Power and Adani Green Energy, two flagship companies of the Adani Group, said on Friday they have won Letters of Award from the Assam government for two large projects that together cost Rs 63,000 cr.

Adani Power, India’s biggest private‑sector generator, will spend Rs 48,000 cr to build a brand‑new 3,200 MW ultra‑supercritical thermal plant in Assam. The plant will bring clean, efficient coal electricity to the region and create up to 25,000 construction jobs and 3,500 permanent jobs when it starts operating in 2030.

Adani Green Energy (AGEL), the country’s leading renewable firm, will invest Rs 15,000 cr in two pumped‑storage plants that will add 2,700 MW of storage capacity. AGEL announced it also received a Letter of Award for 500 MW of energy‑storage capability that will be supplied from the pumped‑storage plants.

The two projects represent the largest private‑sector investment in the Northeast so far and fit into Chairman Gautam Adani’s February pledge to put Rs 50,000 cr into the region’s growth.

“We see the Northeast as a key frontier for India’s future. These projects will power Assam, create jobs, boost local industry and help the state move toward a greener, more reliable electricity supply,” Adani said.

Adani Power emerged as the lowest bidder, offering a tariff of Rs 6.30 per kWh under a Design‑Build‑Finance‑Own‑Operate model. The coal supply for the plant will follow the government’s SHAKTI policy.

AGEL also won the lowest bid for the 500 MW storage project, which will help balance grid load and support the integration of renewable energy sources across Assam.

With the new power plant and storage plants, Assam will benefit from stronger electricity supply, higher stability, and fresh employment opportunities, while the broader Northeast gains a catalyst for industrial development and economic growth.
