On Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged that artificial intelligence be steered toward global benefit, proposing a worldwide framework grounded in transparency, human oversight, safety-by-design and safeguards against misuse.
Speaking at the G20 Summit’s third session on “A Fair and a Just Future for All – Critical Minerals; Decent Work; Artificial Intelligence,” Modi reminded participants that AI should amplify human potential while the final authority remains with people. He stressed that new technology must prioritize “human‑centric” values rather than “finance‑centric” ones, be “global” instead of merely national, and rely on “open source” models instead of proprietary systems.
The leader highlighted how India has woven this vision into its technology landscape, yielding gains in space, AI, and digital payments—areas where the country already leads. He outlined the country’s AI strategy, which focuses on fair access, nationwide skill‑building, and responsible use. Under the India‑AI Mission, the government is developing high‑performance computing infrastructure to spread the benefits of AI across all regions.
Modi announced that India will host the AI Impact Summit in February 2026 under the theme “Sarvajanam Hitaya, Sarvajanam Sukhaya” (Welfare for all, Happiness for all) and invited every G20 nation to participate. He also called for a swift shift from “Jobs of Today” to “Capabilities of Tomorrow,” noting the talent‑mobility progress made at the New Delhi meeting, and suggested a global framework for talent movement in the near future.
In closing, Modi reaffirmed India’s pledge to a sustainable, trustworthy trade system, fair finance, and inclusive progress that benefits everyone worldwide.
